Output ripple too high, despite LC filter

Posted by: theswissguy on
Hi, We are working on a dual-output circuit with the LNK363G. On the 5V output, we have foreseen an L-C filert, so that the ripple can be reduced. The problem is that the ripple is still around 300mV, and I have been trying various L-values to reduce it. Is the inductance too high, the ripple becomes better, but the output voltage becomes very much load-dependent. How best to get rid of such a ripple? or do I just have to live with it ? Thanks for your support. MM

Is it possible you post your schematic? Are your output capacitors low esr type. is your ripple high frequency ripple (switching ripple)? or 60 hz ripple(Line ripple)? If the ripple is switching ripple. you need to increse the value of the output cap and use LOW esr type. I need to know these answers in order to see how to fix the ripple. Thnak you. PI-Worf
