Some help with design?

Posted by: IceCool on

Where do I start?

I need to supply 200-400 volts DC, with variable current between 0.6 to 1 ampers, from 230 rms VAC. I'm an electronics engineer, not the university kind, the trade-school/vocational-school kind, so I'll be able to figure things out, but slowly. I've found myself in a position where I need to build hundreds of units per month, and your tech is looking pretty nifty.

What products of yours would be the best match?

Hi IceCool,

If you require a variable 200-400 DC supply from a 230Vac input, I guess a possible topology will be a 2 stage converter with the following components:

1) PFC Boost Converter (check out HiperPFS-4/DER-547- 275 W PFC Front-End)
2) Buck Converter (Maybe you can check out our LinkSwitch family of controllers)

The suggested design above is non-isolated. If isolation is needed, you might need to use a bridge converter for your design.
