leakage inductance

Posted by: seo on

Hello, I was wondering how to measure up leakage inductance. (for example RDR292 - measurements carried out on the frequency 100 kHz). For me it is possible to measure up only at frequencies 100 Hz and 1 kHz. Which devices does PI use for such measurements? Thank you.

IMHO if you measure it at 10KHz (for example with BK Precision 87x for example) it will be enough.

I've measured leakage inductance of wide band toroids at 1 KHz and 10 KHz, numbers were very very close.

LCR meter or impedance analyzer can do the measurement. You short your tansformer secondary and measure the inductance through primary. To be specific, in RDK292, measure between Pins 2-5, with FL1, FL2, FL3, FL4 shorted.

Thanks, I understood. I measured operating frequency with an oscilloscope and determined leakage inductance by the formula.
