TOPSwitch-24-12-109W

Posted by: aminmohajerani on

I have got a TOP271EG  to  run an  AC / DC Converter with 220Vac as input and 24V-4.5A and 12.5V-0.5Amp as output ,

based on information from datasheet , it would have to be able to  drive 177W Maximum continuous power in a typical non-ventilated condition but when I load it above 60W - 24V-4.5Amp , switching controller goes to over temperature shutdown and reach temperature near 100C degree ,

So I want to ask how could I improve efficiency in order to prevent it from getting too hot ?

 thanks .

Best Regards

Could you upload your schematic?

Thanks

I attached Schematic file in pdf  format .

thank you .

Your schematic looks good! But PI's datasheet cliams metal heatsink for the 177W continuously output power. Could you test with enough heatsink for your application?

I have measured the total efficiency and it was near 72% but it would be 85%. The output diode is more than 100 degree hot. How could I improve the efficiency at secondary “24V circuit”  and in primary circuit indeed ?

PLS use schottky diode on the secondary side. For your application, it is not easy to meet your efficiency SPEC and thermal, Schottky diode can help you a a lot. Try your best to find some very good Schottky diode.
