driver output current

Posted by: stalindm on

Sir,
we are working on linkswitch ph devices to develop drivers for US market. In most of your design reports the output current is 500ma. But in market most available power leds are rated with 350ma / 700ma. I just want to know where we use 500ma costant current source in led lighting applications. May I know which type is most commonly used in USA, 350/500/700ma ?
Stalin.

Most DERs are designed from existing or new customer requirements. The output current depends on the LED configuration they will be using (series or/and parallel)and the required lumens they want to achieve. There is no hard rule on the output current level for leds and vary with different LED designs and configurations.
