TOP221YN obsolescence

Hi,

We have been using the TOP221YN for a number of years (10+) but unfortunately it has gone obsolete.

Please can you recommend alternatives (pin compatible if possible).

Hi Baldwin,

IMS erroneously published a list of obsolete PI PNs a couple of months ago. We informed them and corrected the error, but unfortunately, some confusion still persists. On the web at https://ac-dc.power.com/products/product-archive/, we have an archived product list indicating what is obsoleted or not.

The TOP221YN is still active, as we have continued to ship these in volume through Q1 of 2017.

Is the statement incorrect then i.e. still an Active part with no end of life plans?

My apologies! There is indeed a mistake on that webpage, which we are in the process of correcting.

The TOPSwitch-II family will be put on a separate page, as it is still active. Although it is a product that we do not recommend for new designs, it is indeed a product that you can still buy.

Dear Sir, may I get transformer (EE28) design for a SMPS 12 v 4a using TOP245YN?

For new designs, we recommend using the TOPSwitch-JX over the TOPSwitch-GX (although it remains active). To get a transformer design, we suggest you use our PI Expert Online tool to do an equivalent design with the TOPSwitch-JX for your 12V, 4A requirement and manually select the EE28 core after the initial optimization is done.
