Power Factor Correction

Posted by: Baptiste DIDE on

Hi,

We use the lnk3202 in buck topology to supply our circuit. Our system is low power, it needs about 350 mW.
The problem is that we need a correct power factor on the input stage but the input capacitor (4.7uF as in the example application diagram)
generates current harmonic distortion.

Could you give me clues to correct my power factor?

Thank you.

Hi Baptiste DIDE,

You can try to lower down the input capacitor but be sure that your operation would be still normal. And also 350mW power supply doesn't requires a good power factor. To get a correct power factor an additional PFC circuit is needed.
