Definition of one TURN when winding the transformer

Posted by: Andrej.SH on

Hello!

Example from AN-22
p. 23: "Start with two sets containing three wires"
p. 22: "4T #27 AWG x6"

When saying one turn, it means to make a 360° movement with a wire around the core. 4 turns means 4x 360° movements. But when looking on the figure on p. 23 I see only 3 turns. For example the black marked triplet that starts on the left. Due to picture only 3 turns were made. So, how is one turn actually defined? The place, where the winding start is considered as a first turn? If yes, how? On the start point no voltage can be inducted.

Hi Andrej,

Yes, you are correct.

One turn is 360° around the core, however the picture is shown for understanding purpose only to show how to wind and not to represent for actual number of number of turns.
