Help me with wide range power supply

Posted by: MSprut on
Hi. It is necessary to design the power supply with the isolated output 12В, 0.5А and wide range input 85-400VAC. Now I use TNY267 and PNY24004 (Premier magnetics Inc) with universal input range 85-265VAC. I have studied the document der58.pdf, but such variant of the power supply does not approach me because of insufficient power and not isolated output. Whether probably to use the same components for creation of the power supply with more high-voltage input? And what should be the circuit? In advance thanks.

Hello, Most of our parts feature a 700V MOSFET which is ideal for applications that require 85VAC to 265VAC Input. For voltages much higher than that (such as your application which is 400V input), we recommend use of a StackFET which is an arrangement consisting of one our our integrated controllers and a high voltage MOSFET. You can use this technique freely when you use our parts as we have a patent on this technique. The link below provides details of the StackFET http://www.powerint.com/sites/default/files/PDFFiles/ipStackFET.pdf We have two design examples that you may be able to use as reference. I am providing the linke to these below. http://www.powerint.com/sites/default/files/PDFFiles/der58.pdf http://www.powerint.com/sites/default/files/PDFFiles/di124.pdf I also suggest that you download our PI-Expert tool which can be downloaded freely from our web site. This tool will enable you to design a transformer suitable for your application. Please use the link below. http://www.powerint.com/en/design-support/pi-expert-design-software Regards PI-Sarek

hello, no need to use stack FET for 400VAC input. it only gives 400*1.414= 565V. This voltage is sufficiently less than MOSFET max drain to source voltage(<700V). So, pls increase the input capacitor voltage to two series capacitors each of 400V. thanx

Hello. I have repeated the scheme from di124.pdf, but the device does not work properly. Without loading output voltage is in norm limits, at connection as loading of the ethernet switch the the power supply is not started, output voltage pulses. The device scheme is attached. I try to change VR5, R11 and R12 but it has no effect. Pleas help to resolve this problem. Thanks in advance.
