What is the simplest solution for this application?
Vin = 6 to 20V
Vout = 9V / 0.1A
Low component count is the main requirement. Regulation, ripple, efficiency, etc. are not a concern.

At this time, Power Integrations does not offer a product for a 6 Volt input.
Z. Cochrane is correct, currently PI does not have any devices which are a very good fit for such a low input voltage.
However there is the DPASwitch family of devices that has a 200 V MOSFET and has a programmable switching frequency of 300 or 400 kHz that could be used for this application.
