PS with "soft" characteristics

Posted by: AudioGrade on

Hi,

I need a Power Supply for my stepper controller.

For a perfect jogging they must be supplied with a high voltage at higher speeds
(i.e. 72V / 2A) and lower voltage with more current (36V / 8A peak.

Has anybody experience or hints to develop such a power supply with these values?

(If needed an external signal is available as speed information for regulation..)

Thanks and best regards,

Wolfram

I am not sure what you mean by "soft charactersistics" but external adjustment of output voltage and current can be done by changing the reference voltage of these two loops. It would be good to know what your input voltage requirements are and whther you need an isolated or non-isolated conversion. Unfortunately the 36V/8A peak requirement is probably beyond the output power capability of our devices.

The input will be standard European net (230V), the peak requirement could be matched to the maximum capability of the device (i.e. 30V / 8 A). (But with the TOP261 I could insert these peak values??) Isolated or non-isolated design is possible, depending on the costs of realisation. But Ive a few problems to calculate the devices specially the transformer.. Should I first calculate the parameters for the 72V or the 30 V Output... After that I must select a wire for the maximum current of 8A? Best regards, Wolfram
