Replacement of TOP221

Posted by: homer5785 on
Hello everybody. I've got a reference design for a small Flyback supply appication.(attached) It's used to drive a µC, a half-bridge driver an optocoupler and some switching transistors. Now I want to replace as much as possible with SMT-Devices. 1. The diodes: I choosed the SMD-types MURS140 and SM6T200A instead of MUR140 and P6KE200. Is this possible? Their data sheets seems they are equal. 2. In germany I haven't found a distributor for the TOP221-SMD Type. I only found a TOP222GN in SMT. Can I replace it? 3. Under "Products" at the website there is only the TOP Switches-HX-family presented. Does it means that the "old" TOP-Switches will be discontinued soon? Thanks in advance Andi

Hello Homer5785,

Your choice for SMD diodes replacement is perfectly acceptable. TOP222GN is rated for higher power than TOP221; you can use it without problems.
TOP221 and TOP222 listed under Product Archive are still in production and we offer support for any of them. Under the “Archive” name we listed older products.

Cheers,

Yea. Thanks for the quick response. Greets from Germany
Hello it's me again. I'm searching for a replacement for the UF4006 or MUR180 in this design, preferable SMT-Devices. Do you have some recommandations? Thanks Andi

I finally found one... SUF4006 or STTH112 should work...
