Input filter Selection

Hi,
I must design a power supply and it should be passes CE tests. Max output power is 6W ,input 85-265 max ambient tem 85'C. I will use TNY275 increased mode or TNY276. I want to ask that which type I must use for input EMI filter? π or standart common mode filter type.

Standard common mode filter would be easiest to design. If you want to use π type then I would recommend downloading our software tool PI-Expert. When design is finished and you are viewing schematic you will see a column on the left. Under transformer contruction you will see option for shield. If you click on that and add shield option you will have a transformer design that will have a much better chance of passing EMI with π filter alone.
