lots of spikes in the secondary using the TOP-271

Posted by: markbar on

Hi i am using the TOP-271EG device driving a ETD44 transformer designed using "PI Expert" the power supply works very well however i am getting a lot of small spikes in the secondary. This is starting to cause issues with the sensitive ADC circuitry. While i can add extra filtering i would rather see if i can minimise the source of the spikes. Have attached the circuit of the PS. The picture is from a cro probe lying on top of the transformer no electrical connection. The small spikes seem to the be the main problem.

The waveform seems to tell me that the output noise is what you are concerning about.

PLS make sure the tst setup of ripple and noise is correct ( every DER board shows the correct setup). If the noise is not caused by test setup, then the ripple can be reduced with lower ESR capacitor.
